The HTML <em></em> tag is used to emphasize text, typically implemented in visual browsers by italicizing it. Unlike the <i></i> element, this implies a spoken inflection as if to draw attention to the contained phrase. It is similar to the <strong></strong> element except that the text is emphasized less. Text which simply needs to be italicized should have the CSS font-style:italic; rule applied to it.
