This deprecated, presentational element is not recommended. Authors should generally find an alternative way to accomplish the same task while adhering to all best practices, or simply do without it if it is unimportant.

The HTML <tt></tt> element, or teletype text, has been deprecated since HTML5. It produces an inline element displayed in the browser's default monotype font (Lucida Console). The font face can be changed by using the CSS font-family property. This element was intended to style text as it would display on a fixed width display, such as a teletype. It better to display fixed width type using the <code> element.
